Question: During the start of EuroCUT or CoCut the software show an error message "Invalid Code number".
Answer: There can be two reasons for this error message:

1. The number in brackets is not different from your dongle number
In this case you have typed the wrong serial number or installed the wrong software.
That means you have installed CoCut Standard, for example, although you have a product number for CoCut Professional.
You can find the correct number in your manual or on your invoice.

2. The number in brackets is different from your dongle number.
If you are using a dongle for the parallel port, first of all delete all the printer drivers connected to the LPT port and remove any devices plugged in behind the dongle.
If the error persists after the drivers have been deleted, test the dongle on another computer.
If the error occurs on the other computer as well, your dongle has been overwritten and needs replacing. Contact your dealer about this.

Question: When the EuroCut/CoCUT setup is launched, the following error message occurs:
Error number: 0x80070725
Description: Incompatible version of the RPC stub
Answer: This error is caused by a DLL that was installed on the system, such as Oleaut32.dll, Olepro32.dll, Asycfilt.dll, Stdole2.tlb, or others that are not compatible with that system. For example, version 3.50 of Oleaut32.dll is installed and used only by Windows XP and so causes this error if it is installed on a machine running any other operating system.
The only way to avoid this error is to download and run this executable from Microsoft.

Question: The company administrator was able to set up the macros in CorelDRAW 10 and copy them
to the toolbar without any problems. When the user (or any user regardless
of what type of priviledges they have, even administrative) attempts to add
the macro to the toolbar, it is not listed.
Answer: The Problem is that Visual Basic for Application only works for the user who install CorelDRAW.
With the following work around VBA works for all users.
1. Log on as the Administrator (the one which installed the apps)
2. Start -> Run
3. type regedit [enter]
4. Goto HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\COREL\CorelDraw\10.0
5. When the key is highlighted, select REGISTRY -> EXPORT REGISTRY FILE
6. Select a path to save the exported registry file that will be accessible
to all users
7. Now Log off as the Administrator
8. Log on as one of the users
9. Goto the path where you saved the exported registry files and Double
Click both of them
10. Select YES to add each one to the registry
11. Repeat the last three steps (8-10) for each user

Question: Although I activated the Option "Visual Basic for Applications" during the CorelDRAW 10 Installation I cannot add the CoCut / CoRun macro to the toolbar of CorelDRAW.
Answer: This might be a bug of the CorelDRAW 10 installation, which can be fixed with a manually installation of "Visual Basic for Applications":
Start the VBA6 installation with a doubleclick in the Windows Explorer on vba6de.msi which can be found on the CorelDRAW 10 CD in the directory \Corel\Graphics10\Config\Redist\VBA6
Then you should have the possibility to add the CoCut / CoRun macro to the toolbar like describe in the manual.

Question: The output size cannot be changed and if you click on the register button CoCut gives a message that the copy protection device (dongle) is not properly plugged into the parallel port.
Answer: First you should unplug all devices (incl. cables) behind the dongle and check once more if the
dongle can be detected. If the dongle can be detected, you should insert a second parallel interface
card into your computer and plug the dongle into this interface. If you can still not detect the
dongle when it is plugged into the parallel interface alone, you should make sure that the parallel
interface is set to Standard, Compatible or SPP.
You can usually set up
parallel interfaces which are integrated into your computers motherboard using the BIOS settings.
But if you are using an interface card, you will have to change the mode using so-called jumpers
on this card. If you can still not detect the dongle, check on another computer or on another
parallel interface if the dongle can be detected there. Our recent experience has shown that the
dongle is hardly ever faulty, but the parallel interface to which the dongle is plugged in is not
working properly.

Note: You must never plug a dongle into a serial or SCSI interface as this could damage
the dongle.

Question: The plotter cuts the first characters cleanly and then begins to draw indefinable curves.
Answer: This is a typical buffer overflow problem when the plotter is driven serially. This occurs when the flow control is not properly set up for serial transmission. For serial data transmission most plotters are driven with the following parameters:

Bits per second9600
Data bits8
Stop bits1
ParityNone
Flow controlHardware

You can change these values under Windows 3.x over program manager / main group / control panel / ports / COMx / settings and under Windows 95 over start / settings / control panel / system / device manager / ports (COM and LPT) / COM port (COMx) / port settings. If your plotter is set to other communication parameters, you can generally find the values in the display under the interface or communication menu and enter them in the Windows control panel.

Question: If the object height exceeds e.g. 70cm CoCut and EuroCUT are changing right into the segmentation dialog.
Answer: As default setting the Roland PNC 950 and 960 have their origin point at lower left. Nearly all other plotters have their origin point at lower right. So you have to press the Rotate button on your plotter panel, before you press the Setup button.

Question: I want to use CoCut in conjunction with CorelDRAW 5 under Windows NT 4. CoCut gives the message that the copy protection device (dongle) could not be found.
Answer: It has only been possible to use CoCut under Windows NT 4 since December 1997. To use CoCut with CorelDRAW 5 it is necessary to have the white HASP dongle supplied with CoCut from December 1997. If you still have a set of CoCut disks with two separate installations of CoCut for CorelDRAW 3, 4, 5 and CoCut for CorelDRAW 6/7 (produced after November 1997, see date stamp), you must start the program HINSTALL.EXE with the -i parameter from the cutter directory under the windows directory. Restart Windows NT 4. The installation of the driver for recalling the dongle is now effective. The black MARX dongle supplied before December 1997 can only be used in conjunction with CorelDRAW 5 using Windows 3.x. or Windows 95.

Question: How can I set the plotter´s origin point to the lower right position required by CoCut/EuroCUT?
Answer: Turn off the plotter and set the dip switch 6 to on. This activates the plotters Rotate function which will set the origin point to lower right and the X axis in the foil running direction.

Question: Although Ive activated the read back button in the cutting dialog the returned value is 0. How can I adjust my plotter so the right foil width value is returned?
Answer: The plotter has to be in the so-called host-mode. If you want to change the plotter settings, you first have to switch on your device. Now please press the <-button on the panel. After the plotter has made its initialisation, please press the function button as long as you can see priority in the display. Now press the enter-key and then the ^-key. In the display you will now see Host. Press the Enter button for confirmation.

Question: After the installation of CoCut for CorelDRAW 7 I cant enlarge the symbol bar under Windows NT 4.
Answer: This problem only occurs when using CorelDRAW and Windows NT 4 and according to CorelDRAWs
technical hotline it has been eliminated in the current release.

There are two possibilties to avoid this problem:

  1. If there is another Windows 95 installation besides Windows NT 4 on the same computer, you
should reinstall CorelDRAW 7 under Windows 95. Make sure that installation is done in the same
directory in which you installed CorelDRAW 7 under Windows NT 4. Then start CorelDRAW 7 under
Windows 95 and adjust the symbol bar. Exit CorelDRAW and restart your computer using Windows NT 4.
  2. If you have installed CorelDRAW 7 on another computer on which Windows 95 is installed and
have added the icon for CoCut into the symbol bar, you can copy the CDRBARS.CFG, CDRMENU.CFG
and CDRROLS.CFG onto a disc from the DRAW directory of CorelDRAW 7 and then copy them on the
Windows NT 4 computer into the DRAW directory of CorelDRAW 7.

Question: How can I cut only selected objects?
Answer: Select the objects which you want to cut with the arrow tool from CorelDRAW, then press the SHIFT-key and click on the CoCut button. Now only the selected objects will be cut.

Note: This is an easy way to cut separate colors with CoCut.

Question: When a graphic has to be segmented for output I get the error message Integer divide by zero.
Answer: For some unknown reason the correct value appears in the copy field but this field in fact contains special symbols which cannot be properly interpreted and cause this error message. Click on the copy field with the mouse cursor. Press the Del and the < key to delete the entries. Then type the desired number of copies (usually 1).

Question: If you try to cut a text in CorelDRAW 6 with CoCut the message too many nodes appears.
Answer: CorelDRAW 6 has a restriction. It can only convert a limited number of nodes (approx. 3000). The more complex the font is, the fewer characters can be converted.
You could avoid this problem, by using smaller text blocks. This problem is not caused by the total number of letters but too many letters within a single text block.

Question: Clones of Corel6 cannot be cut with CoCut.
Answer: The objects you want to cut must be duplicated first or you should use the windows clipboard. (Copy and paste from the clipboard).
24.07.2001

Question: Although at least one object can be seen in the wireframe view, CoCut gives a message "No object exist" and deletes the existing objects.
Answer: You have probably used the undo function of CorelDRAW after previously cutting with CoCut. For running CoCut for CorelDRAW 6/7 a script is used which copies the existing objects into a temporary layer from which the objects can be sent to CoCut. As this layer is deleted the next time you run CoCut, your objects have also been deleted. To restore your objects proceed as follows: open the layer manager unter the menu item layout (Ctrl + F3). Keep recalling the undo function (Ctrl + z) until all objects can be seen again and the ~tmp~~~ layer no longer appears in the layer manager. If it not possible to recall the undo function often enough, you can also highlight all objects and move them to another layer as soon as the objects reappear but are still in the temporary layer.

Question: During installation I get the error message Setup files have been modified or corrupted.
Answer: As the installation routine for CoCut 6/7 cant work with long path names the most likely reason
for the problem is that CorelDRAW was installed in a directory with a path name such as
C:\CorelDRAW 7. Deinstall CorelDRAW 6 or 7 using the control panel (software) and then
reinstall CorelDRAW in a directory, such as C:\DRAW70, that does not contain any long path names.
Then you can reinstall CoCut 6/7.

Note: Since April 1998 the installation of CoCut for CorelDRAW 3,4,5,6,7&8 can work
with long path names from CorelDRAW installations. This problem no longer exists.

Question: If you cut text elements, the output quality is very bad. Especially curves are cut jagged.
Answer: This problem regularly appears if you cut with CorelDRAW 3, 4 and 5, especially when cutting small
characters. If you use one of these Corel versions the page size is limited. Therefore you must
design with factor 1:10 or anything else. You can reduce this problem if you set text elements as
large as possible, because CorelDRAW converts text to curves only as well as is necessary for
printing.
Note: The larger the original size of the text is, the better the conversion and the output
quality is.

Question: How can I cut a graphic out of CorelDRAW 9 or 10, if I only have it in a bitmap format?
Answer: Bitmaps need to be traced first, because only curves can be cutted.
If the additional graphic tool "CorelTRACE" has been installed with CorelDRAW, you can select the bitmap in CorelDRAW und a toolbar with bitmap tools will be displayed. Select the icon "Trace bitmap" (or the menu option "Bitmaps/Trace Bitmap"). CorelTRACE will then be opened in which you can select different tracing methods. Normally you should select the "Trace/By Outline" method.
If you then close CorelTRACE, the vector result will be placed over the bitmap in CorelDRAW and can be cutted with CoCut.
