Historical FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

Entry 2 from 2    Start   Back 1 2 More: not possible   End: not possible
Question: I have linked two computers using Windows 95 in a peer-to-peer network. There is no problem in printing on a printer directly connected to the client computer. But it is not possible to make a printout on the second printer connected to the computer.
Answer: In this case you should assign an LPT port to the second computers spooler. To do this, open the
printer folder in the control panel and click with the right mouse button on the printer
which is connected to the second computer. Select properties. Choose the details
tab and click on the assign printer port button. Under device name choose a port
which is not already being used by the client computer, such as LPT3. Under path select the
second computer spooler and activate restore binding when starting. Confirm your selection
by clicking OK. Under port for print output select the new port LPT3 and click on
OK.
