Historical FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

Question: Often EuroCUT is closed with the message copy protection not found while you are printing.
Answer: EuroCUT verifies the presence of the copy protection (dongle) at irregular intervals. When printing
with the print spooler it may happen that the printing data are read back instead of the dongle
data and thus the dongle cannot be properly detected. As EuroCUT does not verify the presence of
the donlge during printing and the above-mentionend problems only occur when you are printing with
the print spooler, you must turn off the print spooler. To do this, proceed as follows: click on
the Windows 95 start button select settings/printer. Click with the right mouse button on
the icon of the printer which is plugged in behind the dongle, select properties and then
the details tab. Click on spool settings and choose send printing orders to
printer
.

Note: Generally there should be a free ISA slot in your computer into which you can
insert another parallel interface card. If you plug the dongle into this second parallel interface,
it is possible to use the print spooler.

Question: I have linked two computers using Windows 95 in a peer-to-peer network. There is no problem in printing on a printer directly connected to the client computer. But it is not possible to make a printout on the second printer connected to the computer.
Answer: In this case you should assign an LPT port to the second computers spooler. To do this, open the
printer folder in the control panel and click with the right mouse button on the printer
which is connected to the second computer. Select properties. Choose the details
tab and click on the assign printer port button. Under device name choose a port
which is not already being used by the client computer, such as LPT3. Under path select the
second computer spooler and activate restore binding when starting. Confirm your selection
by clicking OK. Under port for print output select the new port LPT3 and click on
OK.
